angela Buccinni butch
Founder & director of The Muse and ABCIRQUE

Angela Buccinni Butch is the founder and director of The Muse Brooklyn and its professional in-house performance company ABCirque. The Muse Brooklyn was founded in 2011 and ABCirque formed in 2015.

Angela was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She attended the Boston Conservatory where she was awarded the Jan Veen Scholarship and Juline Ince Thompson scholarship for choreography. Through her studies at the Conservatory, Angela performed works by Jose Limon, Martha Graham, and Murray Lewis, and created her own works - which were performed for artists such as Yoyo Ma. After receiving her BFA in 2006 Angela moved to New York City where she began to pursue a career in acrobatics and circus artists. She kept one toe on the ground dancing with Tribe of Human, The Chase Brock Experience, and began getting air time with the Brooklyn-based, 'PopAction' dance company STREB.

Angela has been spotted dancing and in flight with many NYC & Israeli circus companies performing around the world as an H2H acrobat, aerialist, bullwhip & fire performer! Company credits include: Phoenix Entertainment NYC, Fuerza Bruta, featured aerialist and co-choreographer in the Off-Broadway production of Caligula Maximus NYC, Grounded Aerial, the world tour of The Aluminum Show, Cirqutacular's "Circurious," Helium Entertainment, Pilobolous, Circus y, Bordel Total and Pyromania Show.

She teaches Acrobalance and Games, Acro Standing Circus and Family Acro at The Muse.

yoni kallai
payroll & Maintenance

Yoni Kallai started doing acrobalance in a beginners workshop in Israel, while studying at The Hebrew University. This started out as a hobby that quickly became a primary occupation. He found himself teaching people tricks and showing them that they can do more than they think all the time, not just in class.

A Philadelphia native, Larissa joins The Muse as Director of Events with a background in fashion, nightlife, human resources, activism, and mind/body work. Larissa lives in Brooklyn with her cats, Dorian Gray and Klaus Nomi.

casey bauer
Marketing & social media coordinator

A Colorado native turned crowd-averse New Yorker, Casey is a writer, drummer, and content strategist. You can usually find her behind a laptop making endless to-do lists, writing, and managing the Work Exchange Program at The Muse. When she's not at the studio, she's drumming for the New York Giants, buying last minute plane tickets, and fawning over animals with 0-4 legs.

rob williams
Technical director

Rob Williams has over a decade experience in film and television, and is now bringing his skill set to live performance. From Omaha, to New Orleans, to New York; he's gained the experience any stage needs to succeed. Helping each show become visually stunning is of utmost importance to help the stars shine on stage!

Benjamin E Oyzon
Aerial Rigger & Safety Technician

Benny has been flying through the air as an aerial acrobat for over 15 years. With Science Degrees in both Theater and Engineering has now mainly shifted to the other end of the ropes. Constantly creating different ways to find the beauty in nature, and the magic in physics.

ABCirque is a contemporary circus company that specializes in immersing the audience into the narrative of each performance. These non-traditional circus shows keep the audience on their toes while breaking the fourth wall with a diverse, dynamic cast that provides top-notch entertainment for both independently produced shows and external bookings.  As founder and director of ABCirque, Angela has choreographed many shows for the company such as “Different Trains,” “Petroushka,” “Symphonie Fantastique,” “Cordis” and more. Many of these shows are accompanied by live musicians. In addition to these modern performances, Angela has directed/choreographed entertainment for well-known corporate companies such as Bloomingdales, Swarovski, and Nike.

Artists in Residence

Are you an aspiring artist needing space? Apply to The Muse Brooklyn’s Artist-in-Residence program and become part of our community of high-flyers and artists. At the Muse, we are well-acquainted with the hustle -- we know that artists do not necessarily have the resources to produce the work of their dreams. Our Artists-in-Residence receive support from the Muse on all fronts: with discounted or free rehearsal space, reduced event rental rates, and access to materials and promotional support. We make it possible for emerging artists to incubate new works that add dynamism and depth to the growing world of circus arts in NYC.

Maia Ramnath is the co-founder and artistic director of Constellation Moving Company, a project-based collective specializing in multi-disciplinary theatrical performance assemblages that juxtapose elements of aerial acrobatics, dance, text, and video. CMC’s projects emerge from the dialogue generated amongst artists and art forms, engaging with contemporary society, history and literature: a movement theater of ideas. Since 2010 CMC has created seven evening-length productions at Theater for the New City, most recently Chromoluminarism, a fantasia on the world of Georges Seurat; shown work at Dixon Place, Circus Warehouse, Brooklyn Lyceum, and the Hybrid Movement Lab; and toured the World War One inspired production Trenches to Durham, NC; Lexington, KY; and Toledo, OH.

Besides choreographing and performing her own work with CMC, Maia has appeared as a freelance aerialist and modern dancer with various artists; highlights include Pat Catterson/Nine Lives Dance, Yonder Window Theater Company, the Neo-Political Cowgirls, Hybrid Movement Company, Surface to Air Dance, David Michalek and Yvonne Rainer’s film Slow Dancing/Trio A, Jill Sigman/thinkdance, Elise Knudsen & Bianca Falco’s Nuvole Dance Theater, Nadia Lesy’s Bullettrun, the Merce Cunningham RUGs, Cirque Boom, Cirquetacular Entertainment, and others. She is also a writer, editor, teacher and historian: she has taught aerial rope and silk at Circus Warehouse and Aerial Arts NY; history and writing at NYU, Penn State and Fordham University.

Born in Sichuan, China, artist Millie Li focuses on abstracted forms of internal bodies, which she deems "portraits of the universal, visceral bond of all sensuous life forms". A graduate of Columbia University with Departmental Honors in Film Studies, Li has worked for Tony and Academy-Award-winning producer Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men) and Michael Hausman (Brokeback Mountain) and was an animator for comedian Negin Farsad's Nerdcore Rising and 3rd Street Blackout. Li also co-produced The Land Is Stale, an independent mystery-thriller web series. Li was the former Administrative Director and Marketing Manager for the STREB Lab for Action Mechanics (SLAM) -- a circus arts and modern dance training facility, performing arts space, and home to MacArthur 'Genius' Award Fellow Elizabeth Streb and her Extreme Action dance company!

Lisa Giobbi has been working in what is now commonly known as aerial dance for many years with the intention of developing movement which challenges gravitational limitations. Lisa is interested in the use of aerial track harness as a tool to transform the dancer through experimentation with ungrounded movement realities. Her work in aerial track harness is evolving towards a re-discovered dance form, in which all classical story lines of conflict, love, betrayal and courage are re-examined through this adaptable apparatus. Lisa Giobbi Movement Arts is focused on investigating the ability to create suspended belief through gravitationally alternative movement.
