SARA SOLARIS ZEPEZAUER

Sara Solaris Zepezauer (Zepe) is a movement and visual artist originally from the west coast.  A classically trained dancer for over twenty years, Zepe’s future seemed shattered by a partnering accident right before college dance auditions.  After surgery and a cross country move, learning to work with broken body and forging a new path was difficult, especially in a new city.  Luckily, it did not take long for a home to be found within the New York City circus community.  Drawing upon an aerial foundation from high school, and with the help of dedicated coaches, instructors and peers, a new future became possible.  Zepe has been able to share this knowledge and experience with many students over the years and feels that the cycle of learning is most important for continual growth as an artist.  Currently, Zepe can be found teaching both adults and children at the Muse Brooklyn, the Muse Gowanus, and Fifth Wall Studio.

Today, Zepe is the proud owner and director of Circus Solaris, a movement company specializing in aerial dance theater and site specific performance. The company most recently closed its second run of the original work, "For (give) Me" at the Muse Brooklyn.
Zepe has choreographed and produced for: ABC’s Good Morning America, New York City Dance Parade, Pandora Radio, Theater for the New City, Tribeca Film Festival, Canon, Wild ‘N’ Out, LUST NYC, The Illuminati Ball, Ziegfeld’s Midnight Frolic, Queer Coney, and has performed on the stages and in the ceilings of the Liberty Theater, Weylin, Paramount Theater, House of Yes, Kings Theater, and Capitale to name a few.

NICK ZELLE

Nick was initiated into the world of circus arts at a young age and grew up cultivating a curiosity and sense of play about its possibilities between the worlds of dance, performance and installation art and other art forms. Having attended the professional training program at l'École de cirque de Québec, where he specialized in aerial rope, hand-balancing and floor acrobatics, he is passionate about creating and exploring on and beyond his apparatus. Nick has created and performed with companies such as the Circus Smirkus Big Top Tour and as a member of the ensemble cast of "PARADE" at the Chamäleon Theater in Berlin in the 2017-2018 season.

Outside of the Muse, Nick has taught in a variety of contexts, including at Xelias Aerial Arts Studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Zirkus Cabuwazi (a social circus project) in Berlin, and the Zip Zap Circus School in Cape Town, South Africa, where he assisted the instruction of the pre-professional track and the school's broader community outreach programs. As an artist and teacher, he is committed to honoring and unleashing the intelligence of the body, its ability to tell stories, to contain and relate histories and to interact with other bodies, apparatuses and spaces in an inherently interesting way. He hopes to bring this perspective and acknowledgement of the transformational power of circus to educational, creative and collaborative contexts. Nick holds a B.A. in Comparative Literature from Middlebury College.
